New Hope for Haiti

A concert for mission to Haiti.

This is an open invitation for those who were interested in mission field.  It is not only for fund raising purposes.  I wanted to share my vision and my compassion for Haiti which God put in my heart.

After a short visit to Haiti, I had to share my feelings with others.  Words cannot express my feelings adequately.  Haiti is so poor and needed I don't know where to begin.  Just like the early 50s-60s in Korea.  We were so poor.  Even though they do not have enough food on the table our parent sent to children school.  Education was the most important for them.  I can see the same doing in Haitian.  I think education is the future.

We attend the Korean United Methodist Church in Fort Lauderdale.  We have 45 small groups.  Our group name is the Galilee.  Our group has four family.  We are the leader of the group.  My wife has a passion for less fortunate people.  She wants to help anybody who needs help. My wife suggested a concert night for Haiti to share with those who has interested with Haiti mission. This is the first time a small group is involved with this kind of event.  I asked around for people who sing, dance, or play instruments.  Jan. 10th 2009 We held a concert in my church.

I was so exited to share our vision and dream to belong to God.  My senior pastor Chang's message was "which nation or whom you serve, the most important and fulfilling is gathering together to plan for mission.  Meeting for mission itself are meaningful.  I wish for more people to join us but not everybody is interested in mission and not always open to the idea.  We are by products of missionaries who went before us.  They obeyed God's calling that is why we are here today.  This year I wish more small groups will be involved with missions or specific goals to plan ahead and have passion and beautiful dreams so our Lord can be happy."  His message always moves me.  God's greatest purposes can only be achieved in us inasmuch as we are willing to do things His way.  Especially, members of the Presbyterian church in palm beach came to sing and play the Korean drums and folk songs.  Our church members play violin, piano, and dance.  Also elder Baik's duet was wonderful.  I thank those of you spent time and talent.  Young and old were involved in making harmony.  We are partners in God.

He needed someone who would be willing to serve Haiti.  Some pray, some give the money, time, and talent.  My plan for Haiti is to export the skilled manpower to other country  and to create local jobs.  I will research the visa requirement for Canada, United States, Australia and New Zealand.

Also encourage government involvement so they can develop and train the people. They can give all the necessary information for other country.

I hope I will meet the prime minister of Haiti so we can discuss how it is benefit to the country and the necessity of  such an organization to established in Haiti for the people.

Bible class and English class will open soon.

Over all the concert night was succeeded I did not expect much this is the first time.  I thank to God for sending people who are willing to join us.  I thank again my friends in members of the Presbyterian Church in Palm Beach, and our church members who participated in this event.  Our small group who dedicated enough to even ask me how they wanted them involved.  I have such good people who love the Lord.

I thank for it. Please keep on praying for us.

Your humble servant.  Jin Y.  Kim         Jan.11th  2009
